糸のみを用いた単純な造形を挿入することにより、平凡な箱型をした既存ギャラリーの内部を、全く異質な空間へと転換する試みです。

それぞれの糸の起点と終点を少しずつずらすことにより、HPシェルの形状を描くように砂時計状に糸が張られています。砂時計の中にいるときと外にいるときとで、体験者が想起する全体像が全く異なるように意図しました。

このように一つの単純な線や面から空間を構成する手法を、スケールやマテリアルは違いますが、後に照明器具に応用しました。

Establishing connection to the natural environment was a key factor, executed at various levels of the project. Sunken living room engages large outdoor terraces, Japanese style baths offer an uninterrupted view of Mt. Yotei, and the library takes in framed forest views. Custom wood burning fire place and the use of natural stone and wood finishes in a variety of textures orchestrate a warm comfortable setting for a winter stay.
